First Half of 2022 Brings Exceptional Growth for Atomic Wings
The fast-growing chicken wing franchise has 75 franchise agreements signed, including many area developments.
Atomic Wings, the 14-unit brand serving crispy Buffalo-style chicken wings since 1989, has seen incredible growth since beginning franchising operations in 2016. The franchise was listed as one of the fastest-growing small restaurants by Future 50 in 2017. And now, halfway through 2022, the company has 75 more franchise agreements signed and in the pipeline, with plans to bring its next-level wings and tenders to Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, Ohio, and California over the next 18 months.
The massive interest from franchisees will bring Atomic Wings to a nearly triple-digit footprint. Right now, the company has locations in Maryland, Texas and multiple in its home state of New York. These 75 signings mean many more will be opening soon all over the country.
Many of the franchise signings were multi-unit area development deals in which the brand has partnered with outstanding businesspeople dedicated to intense scaling efforts. These new franchise owners will be an instrumental part of Atomic Wings’ growth, bringing the company to five new states with a large concentration of restaurants.
In Indiana, a 10-unit agreement was awarded to Michael Harmon, an experienced operator who owns several Firehouse Subs locations in the area. “My agreement has a minimum of 10 units, but I mapped it out, and I think we can do 20 or 30 in the area,” Harmon said.
The company signed another 10-unit area development agreement for Houston, Texas. New York native Jalal Kapadia and his wife Shermeen are multi-brand business owners who signed on and plan to develop some of the locations themselves as well as bring in more franchisees to the system.
Atomic Wings will also expand to California with new franchisee Sandeep Mukhi, who signed a three-unit deal. One of the locations will be in San Ramon, on the eastern side of the Bay Area, and he is still searching for a site for the other two locations.
“I know what great wings taste like, and after trying Atomic Wings out, I knew the product would sell here. There's huge demand. I love their food,” Mukhi said.
There were also 11 new agreements signed for Nevada and Missouri. Franchisee Rick Gordon will be opening a Las Vegas, Nevada location, and Michael Domico signed a multi-unit deal to open 10 Atomic Wings in Missouri.
The franchise is very excited about the immense growth it has experienced lately. Zack Omar, CEO of Atomic Wings, is ready to bring the beloved New York-style cuisine to more locations in the U.S.
“Our menu was created based on a simple principle — to share our love for authentic Buffalo wings with the world,” said Omar. “Each Atomic Wings location has a unique menu, however, you will always find the same great wings, combos and signature sauces that have made our menu a staple in New York City and beyond.”
The total investment necessary to begin the operation of an Atomic Wings restaurant is $155,900 to $338,500. The total investment necessary to begin the operation of a multi-unit developer business for a required minimum of three Atomic Wings franchises is $197,900 to $381,000.
