In 2017, <a href="http://www.sportclipsfranchise.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=pba-cut-it-out-program-brings-abuse-awareness-training-to-sport-clips-2705449" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Sport Clips</a> Haircuts signed on as a platinum-level sponsor of the Professional Beauty Association&rsquo;s Cut It Out program, a domestic abuse awareness campaign that trains professionals in the beauty industry to identify and respond effectively to the signs of domestic abuse. <a href="https://sportclips.1851franchise.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=pba-cut-it-out-program-brings-abuse-awareness-training-to-sport-clips-2705449" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Sport Clips&rsquo;</a> participation in the program makes training resources available to franchisees of more than 1,700 Sport Clips stores as well as e-learning about domestic abuse for new hires.

Originally created by The Women&rsquo;s Fund of Greater Birmingham and the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Cut It Out first reached a national audience in 2003 when the National Cosmetology Association took up the cause. The program has expanded its reach since, finding its largest platform yet with the Professional Beauty Association, the largest organization of salon professionals in the world.

Cut It Out&rsquo;s mission is to create widespread awareness of the signs of domestic abuse within the beauty industry. Because professionals in the industry work closely, with their clients, they are in a unique position to spot the subtler signs of abuse that can be missed in most day-to-day social interactions.

Where Sport&nbsp;Clips differs from other salons involved with Cut It Out is the brand&rsquo;s target clientele: men and boys. Sport&nbsp;Clips&rsquo; Director of Training, Sandy Craven, said Cut It Out training for Sport Clips team members is geared more toward identifying signs of abuse among other team members.

&ldquo;Domestic abuse is without a doubt something that can happen to anyone of any race, age, sexual orientation, religion or gender, and people of all backgrounds and education levels&rdquo;, Craven said. &ldquo;Our goal is to train our Team Members to recognize the signs and symptoms of domestic abuse, so they can safely and confidently refer clients, friends, family or team members to local resources for help.

Cut It Out&rsquo;s training program connects beauty industry professionals with certified social workers who provide on-site presentations and make themselves available for private consultations. The program also includes a 24-hour hotline (1-800-799-7233) and website (<a href="http://www.thehotline.org/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=pba-cut-it-out-program-brings-abuse-awareness-training-to-sport-clips-2705449" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.thehotline.org</a>) so anyone can find help at any time, but Craven says the real value of the program is the in-person education. &nbsp;&nbsp;

&ldquo;There is no substitute for personal training from a licensed professional,&rdquo; Craven said. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve watched many presentations, and they are so effective. It&rsquo;s hard to imagine getting the same impact from a pamphlet. And with a real person there, it makes it very easy for someone with a pressing issue to get help immediately from someone they can trust and speak to face-to-face.&rdquo;

Sport&nbsp;Clips&rsquo; commitment to the Cut It Out program is reflective of the brand&rsquo;s core values that encourage every member of the franchise&rsquo;s expansive roster to demonstrate their caring and treat others the way they want to be treated. &nbsp;This is the commitment that has inspired Sport Clips&#39; many community outreach and charitable efforts, including outward-looking programs, such as the VFW&rsquo;s Sport Clips Help a Hero scholarships for U.S. service members and veterans, as well as programs supporting team members within the Sport Clips community, such as the Wayne McGlone Memorial Relief Fund for team members affected by unforeseen emergencies and tragedies.

Each of Sport&nbsp;Clips&rsquo; community outreach efforts is designed to leverage the brand&rsquo;s large, but tight-knit community of team members to help and support each other and their communities.
