Young Ones to Watch: Adam Povlitz, CEO and President of Anago Cleaning Systems

Povlitz spoke with 1851 Franchise to discuss the current state of the franchise industry, what advice he has for up-and-coming business owners and more.

Adam Povlitz, CEO and president of tier-three commercial cleaning franchise Anago Cleaning Systems, first entered the franchising industry after leaving the corporate finance world in the wake of the 2008 recession. Looking to make a real impact in his professional life instead of getting stuck in the corporate rat race, Povlitz started his journey with Anago when he was just 26 and eventually took over the company from his father. Over the years, Povlitz has helped the 1,700-unit brand expand its impressive franchise network and continuously innovate to stand out in the industry.

When it comes to the advice Povlitz has for other up-and-comers in the franchising space, he says you can’t be afraid to get your hands dirty.

“You need to know everything there is to know about the business if you’re going to climb the ranks of a particular brand,” said Povlitz. “When I joined Anago, I was cleaning every night as part of my training — quite literally getting my hands dirty. Also, you can’t be afraid to be the squeaky wheel. Even if you are a young person, your opinion matters, and your intelligence is valued.”
